It's Time to Garden!
We're all just itchin' to get out there in our gardens. As Community Garden Managers you should be contacting your gardeners and making plans -- maybe even planning some group garden work parties to get your garden ready to grow.
The work is more fun when everyone works together!
We're here to support you!
Common Ground Kalamazoo is here to support you -- that's why we exist. Spring is our busiest time as we put programs in place to help support new and established community gardens throughout the Kalamazoo County area.
- The Community Garden Resource Shed with tools and equipment to loan for free to community gardens will have regular hours on Thursdays throughout May from 4-6 p.m. starting May 7. Visit our Garden Resource Shed page for more details.
- The Plant Start Giveaway is scheduled for Thursday May 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the Garden Resource Shed. Community and school gardens can register to participate in receiving plant starts and seeds. Visit our Seeds & Starts page for more information.
- Garden Mentor Program NEW THIS YEAR we are offering a garden mentor program for area community gardens. This can be as simple as pointing you in the right direction to find the resources you need, or visiting your garden to discuss your particular challenges. Visit our new Garden Mentors page to learn more.
- Garden Classes & Workshops are available throughout the year. Check out our Educational Classes page to find out about upcoming classes.
You can help too!
Do you raise your own plant starts or have surplus seeds? Please consider donating extra plant starts and seeds to Common Ground Kalamazoo to be distributed to Community Gardens at our Plant Start Giveaway. You can drop your starts off to the Garden Resource Shed during regular shed hours in May (Thursday's form 4-6) or you contact us to make arrangement to drop them at another time. We appreciate your support with this program.
